Application Forms For MBBS/BDS Will Be Sold Till May 28

Application forms for MBBS/BDS courses offered by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University bought by many more students this year.

In 10 days since forms began to be issued, the selection committee has sold as many as 31,687 forms, exceeding the number of forms sold last year. Forms will be sold till May 28.

As of Wednesday, around 3,000 candidates had submitted their forms, selection committee officials said. The last date for submission of filled forms is May 29.

This year, the State government expects to add 100 seats through a new college – the Omandurar Medical College, which is attached to Kasturba Gandhi General Hospital.

The Medical Council of India officials have said that they had recommended that the college be permitted to function as it had satisfied the MCI norms.

The MCI is also silent on the status of ESIC Medical College, which had for two years admitted 100 students. In December, following an inspection the MCI had urged the college to rectify the deficiencies to permit admission of students.

Despite protests by the students and confirmation by the Central government that it will continue to run the ESIC medical colleges, MCI has remained reticent.
