Amnesty International India invites you to a press conference and the release of its report: "When Land is Lost, Do We Eat Coal?": Coal Mining and Violations of Adivasi Rights in India.
The report is based on research conducted from 2014 till 2016.
It examines how land acquisition and mining in three mines run by Coal India Limited’s subsidiaries in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha in protected Adivasi districts have breached domestic laws, and India’s international human rights obligations.
At the event, leading activists, affected adivasi community members and civil society experts will be available for interviews, including Laxmi Chauhan, Rebbapragada Ravi, Sreedhar Ramamurthi, Harpreet Kaur and Priya P Pillai.
An exclusive virtual reality film by Memesys directed by Faiza Khan on Korba, Chhattisgarh, will be previewed at the press conference, giving the viewer a 360 degree immersive experience of the coal mining landscape and its repercussions
