Job description

  • Service Area: USI Technology

The key skills required are as follows: 

  • Work experience in IT operations in mid to enterprise size environments 
  • Experience in monitoring / managing Application & Server infrastructure 
  • Experience in configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of with Windows 2008, MS Exchange 2010,IIS, Web Applications, Active Directory, WINS, DHCP, DNS, Lync, SCCM. 
  • Knowledge of Load Balancers (F5) , Clustering, SQL Server, Web Logic, SAN, Share Point Portal Server and Windows Share Point Services 
  • Knowledge of Unix/AIX , CRM software(Service Desk R11) and monitoring tools like HP SIM, SCOM, Boxtone etc. 
  • Experience and understanding of Server Hardware from leading vendors like HP, Dell, IBM etc. 

Monitor firm’s IT Infrastructure for normal operation to minimize or avoid business impacting outages or disruptions. 
• Provide second and third level support to the firm's IT Infrastructure 
• Proactively monitor service desk queue(s) for incidents/problems 
• Own incidents and problems through final resolution 
• Escalate reported outages to appropriate management teams 
• Maintain communication with Console Operations team and Duty Managers regarding incidents/problems 
• Participate in Technical Assistance Calls (TAC) as required 
• Drive actions to maintain optimum performance of applications and systems 
• Initiate and lead Triage Calls with other support channels not physically located in the DNOC to achieve prompt incident and problem resolution 
• Utilize and operate specialized tools to monitor and/or resolve incidents/problems (HPSIM, SCOM, AD, etc…) 
• Work with 3rd party vendors as needed for timely incident/problem resolution procedure 
• Documentation and cross-training of other team members 
• Coordinate with vendors for replacement of faulty system hardware. 
• Test production system after software and hardware maintenance changes; drive swaps, hardware changes, patch applications, etc. 
• Providing application Support and periodic application checks to ensure availability. 
• Maintain staging and production environment readiness and schedule. 
• Conduct staging tests of pre-deployment of applications including testing for hardware/software compatibility. Install hot fixes and patches. 
• Apply approved application, application changes to the production environment during approved maintenance windows, Test production system after software and hardware maintenance changes; drive swaps, hardware changes, patch applications, etc. 
• Identify and apply approved configuration changes required to optimize system performance 
• Work with application teams to lead appropriate corrective actions for events or outages, includes establishing, leading and participating with outage calls. 
• Take corrective actions to restore failed applications per standards. 
• Confirm appropriate security, monitoring and business continuity standards are in place. 
• Produce availability and performance reporting of supported systems, Vendors, Developers, Infrastructure Support, Security, etc. 
• Performs systematic and periodic application checks. 
• Maintain operations and configuration management documentation. 
• Lead team efforts in creating processes and technical solutions that improve product stability 
• Ability to deal with difficult situations and address and team issues with senior leadership. 
• ITIL V3 Service Operations knowledge preferred (Event Management, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management). 
• Well versed with monitoring tools such as Microsoft SCOM, MOM, Solarwinds, Wireshark. 
• Knowledge of ITIL best practices such as Incident Management, Change Management and Problem management
