Bernardo Ribeiro dies, after playing game in Brazil
Brazilian footballer Bernardo Ribeiro (26) has died after falling ill during a match in Brazil. He was taken to hospital but later reportedly suffered a suspected fatal heart attack. Ribeiro is the third footballer to have died in the past week from complications arising in a match, following the deaths of Cameroonian footballers Patrick Ekeng and Djomnang.
Ribeiro began his professional career with Skënderbeu in Albania. He signed for the Jets in August 2012 and made six appearances for the A-League club before heading to Finland with IFK Mariehamn and then back to Brazil with Inter de Lages last year.
