15.9 per cent in Hyderabad suffering from
Cardiovascular Diseases (CAD) and hypertension of aged group above 18.
According to the news published in the
Indian Express, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Confederation
of Indian Industries and Population Services International (PSI) conducted a
survey which declared surprising findings on Non Communicable Disease (NCD)
with focus on diabetes.
6.4 percent of people are affected in
Hyderabad, in case of diabetes.
As Hyderabad is famous for food,
Researchers warn the youth to lower the intake of food which contains Bad
Cholesterol.
Soumya Swaminathan, Secretary, Department
of Health Research and Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research
said, “As per the WHO India report 2016, the trend of prevalence of diabetes
increased from less than five per cent in 1980 to 7.8 per cent in 2015. The
prevalence of risk factors also increased.”
Across all the cities, the survey on NCDs
like diabetes, hypertension, CAD was done. Diabetes when compared to 12.73 per
cent in South India, Hyderabad has lesser prevalence of the fact that it has
very high number of people affected by hypertension is a cause of concern.
