Brief on the Organization:
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards
building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited
institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education
and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy
and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New
Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional
Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centres of Applied
Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in
2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board
comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and
International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and

Project Brief:
Through its flagship sports program, Magic Bus Foundation (MBF)
intends to improve the lives of socioeconomically-disadvantaged Indian
children by enhancing their health and cognitive capability, and helping
them develop self-esteem so that they can break socioeconomic barriers
and elevate themselves out of poverty. The program involves weekly
sports sessions at the
community level, and includes components that promote gender equality,
hygiene, school enrollment and attendance, learning, leadership, and
personality development.
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is conducting an
evaluation of the MBF sports program in collaboration with researchers
from various academic institution. The objective of this study is to
assess the impact of the sports-based curriculum program on cognitive
skills, non-cognitive skills and awareness, and practice of preventive
and promotive healthcare practices among adolescents using a three-round
panel data set collected over 5 years. A cluster randomized controlled
trial will be carried out in 160 villages in two districts of India,
covering roughly 14,400 children who are initially between 8 and 14
years of age. Approximately half of the communities will be randomly
assigned the sports program for the intervention, while the other
communities will serve as the control group. Progress will be measured
in two equally spaced follow up surveys.
Deliverables:
S/he will monitor the survey fieldwork (coducted by an external survey firm) under the supervision of PI.
Responsibilities will include traveling to fieldwork sites,
supervising survey team, conducting household surveys (if required),
reporting back to the supervisor, and liasoning with the research team.
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree completed from a government recognized college or university.
Experience & Skills:
- Previous survey fieldwork experience desirable but not essential.
- Candidates able to speak local language ( Telugu for Adoni based position and Marathi for Manor based position)
- Total fee will be approximately Rs.75,000/- and will be based on the available skills and fitment of the incumbent as per the selection process.
