POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Writer position in Truven Health Analytics' Custom Data Analytics group provides key support in literature review, research report, and manuscript writing for Outcomes Research and Strategic Consulting projects conducted on behalf of pharmaceutical and medical device customers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

Under The Direction Of Research Leaders And Analysts, The Medical Writer Will

• Review study results and summarize findings through text, tables and graphs.
• Draft study reports in Microsoft Word and/or PowerPoint slides
• Draft poster content and sections of manuscripts
• Proofread study reports and manuscripts
• Conduct web-based research of medical literature to support study protocol and manuscript development
• Format manuscripts to meet journal submission requirements
• Support narrative/systematic literature review and value dossiers (includes performing abstract screening, article abstraction, note-taking, and assisting with development of summaries in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint)
• Perform additional writing & editing duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in health or social research-related field. PhD is desirable
• Minimum 3 years work experience writing research reports and/or manuscripts based on quantitative research studies, preferably in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industries
• Exceptionally strong English reading and writing skills; experience with manuscript and poster development; previous publication record is highly desirable
• Experience with conducting systematic literature review, able to interpret and summarize epidemiological, clinical, and health economic information from articles
• Working knowledge in pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, and statistical analysis
• Strong verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with individuals at various levels within the organization
• Outstanding critical thinking, questioning, and listening skills
• Superior attention to detail
• Highly organized with a successful history of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, while completing work within allocated time frames
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of U.S. healthcare system
• Experience with reference management software
